Liverpool are still pursuing a new contract for Ibrahima Konate, but talks have made little progress as he enters the final months of his current deal.
Liverpool announced a new long-term contract for Ryan Gravenberch on Saturday, ensuring his future will not come into question in the near future.
However, the same cannot be said for Konate, who will become a free agent in less than four months as talks over a new deal have yet to reach an agreement.
*The Times*‘ Paul Joyce reports that the club “still want to extend” the Frenchman’s deal, but “there appears to have been little progress of late over reaching an agreement.”

Last month it was reported Liverpool were still “hopeful” of striking an agreement with Konate, with it not uncommon to see talks go deep into the season, much like Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk‘s extensions.
The 27-year-old has offered a reminder of his quality of late and continues to be linked to Real Madrid, with a free transfer more financially lucrative than an extension at Anfield.
Liverpool have signed Jeremy Jacquet and also have 19-year-old Giovanni Leoni to welcome back into the squad, but retaining Konate’s services is key for the short and long term.
With Joe Gomez needed in two positions and plagued with fitness issues, and Virgil van Dijk in the latter years of his career, Konate’s importance to Liverpool is only growing.
But whether that is reflected in the club’s offer to the 27-year-old remains to be seen.
Moreover, Joyce adds that Liverpool remain in discussions over a new deal with Dominik Szoboszlai, while contact has also been made with Alexis Mac Allister‘s father, who acts as his agent.
Including Konate and Andy Robertson, Liverpool have 13 players who have contracts that expire between now and 2028.
