Tottenham ‘considering’ another sacking as turmoil deepens before Liverpool trip

Tottenham are reportedly considering their options for sacking yet another manager after slumping closer to the relegation zone.

Spurs are on their third manager in a year, with Igor Tudor currently in the hot seat after Thomas Frank was sacked in February, just eight months after replacing Ange Postecoglou.

*The Telegraph*‘s Sam Wallace and Jason Burt, however, report that Tottenham are “considering their options for a second change of manager in a month.”

Spurs have lost all three matches Tudor has overseen in the Premier League, leaving the club within a point of the relegation zone with nine matches left in the season.

Their interim head coach agreed a deal until the end of the season, but has seemingly no guarantee to see out his short-term contract.

After the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday, Tudor was asked whether the hierarchy would stick with him. He said, “I don’t think in that direction. I have my job to do, and that’s all.”

He later said “no comment on that question” when asked if he would be in charge of the next match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

But the Telegraph report that the club have since said Tudor will take charge of the midweek match, which precedes a trip to Liverpool in the Premier League.

It is likely Spurs would wait until the March international break to make yet another managerial change, if they were to do so, but it highlights their vulnerability ahead of their visit to Anfield next Sunday.

Tottenham injury-hit and without Micky van de Ven vs. Liverpool

Spurs’ woes were compounded in the defeat to Palace as Micky van de Ven will now serve a one-match ban against Liverpool after being shown a straight red card for the denial of a goalscoring opportunity.

The 24-year-old has been linked with Liverpool, who are described as having “keen interest” in the centre-back, who would be available for a cut price if Tottenham were relegated.

He is a big loss for an injury-hit Spurs outfit, though they will welcome back captain Cristian Romero against Arne Slot‘s side after he served a four-match ban.

Tottenham are, however, expected to still be without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus, Ben Davies, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie for the league match.

Liverpool supporters will be wary of a fixture like this with the season they have had, but the Reds should be seeking to capitalise on the turmoil next Sunday.
