Chelsea Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Jamie Gittens, Estevao & 2 Others

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior says he is hoping to have Jamie Gittens back in contention within the next week.

The winger pulled his hamstring during the 3-2 win over West Ham at the end of January, but Rosenior says he is now confident of having the player back very soon:

“Jamie is getting really close, which is great. He had a positive scan. So, hopefully, within the next seven days, he’ll be back in the group.”

Gittens won’t be ready to play Wrexham in the FA Cup or the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

However, there is an outside chance that the 21-year-old will be available for the Blues’ next Premier League fixture.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 14th March vs Newcastle (h)

Estevao

The Brazilian has been suffering with his own hamstring problem, having missed the last three matches.

While Estevao is training, Rosenior has played down the teenager’s chances of playing against Wrexham this weekend:

“He’s back on the pitch, but he’s not ready for this one. We need to be really, really careful, given it was a hamstring injury. He just needs to clear a few more markers before we put him back in.”
