With the Miami Dolphins rebuilding, the belief is nobody is off the table when it comes to trades, including running back De'Von Achane.
Achane is coming off a phenomenal season with the Dolphins, which was made more impressive by the fact that Miami had a terrible offense.
He's still just 24 years old, so it's conceivable the Dolphins could keep him through the rebuild, but Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported that Miami trading him is something that's on the table.
NFL analyst Chad Forbes takes it a big step further, saying the expectation around the league is that the Dolphins will indeed trade Achane this offseason.
Forbes mentions the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos as three potential suitors and adds that it would take a first-round pick to acquire Achane, and an extension that pays him $18 million-plus annually.
"Expectation league wide is Dolphins will trade De’Von Achane this offseason. Texans, Chargers and Broncos 3 potential suitors. Won’t be cheap on the compensation to acquire or the extension," Forbes wrote.
"1st Round Pick or equivalent plus a $18M+ per yr extension," he added.
Achane has proven to be a true difference-maker at the position over the past two years and is coming off a season in which he tallied over 1,800 yards from scrimmage.
We could see him garnering an extension around what Forbes is putting out there, but the Dolphins getting a first-round pick, even for a young star running back, might be tough during an age when backs have been devalued.
The Texans once made a lot of sense for a running back addition, but it remains to be seen if they would still be interested in Achane after trading for David Montgomery recently. We would say no.
The Chargers already have a heavy investment in Omarion Hampton, who they used a first-round pick on in 2025. It's hard to imagine Los Angeles dropping a first-round pick on another running back, no matter how dynamic Achane is.
Denver makes the most sense here. J.K. Dobbins is a pending free agent and might not be back, and the jury is still out on RJ Harvey. A backfield with Achane and Harvey would be one of the most explosive in the NFL.
If we had to predict which one of these three teams Achane will land with, it would easily be the Broncos.
