One reason why Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho is often criticised is because of his failure to take on and beat his man at times.
For someone with pace and good feet, Garnacho can play it quite safe. Yet that was not the case during Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Wrexham on Saturday.
The 21-year-old caused absolute havoc down the left flank, and one stat proves it.
Garnacho is on fire right now!

Alejandro Garnacho completed all five of his dribbles during Chelsea’s win against Wrexham
According to Sofascore, Garnacho attempted five dribbles at the Racecourse Ground and managed to complete all of them.
It was his directness on the night that ended up getting George Dobson sent off, with the Wrexham midfielder feeling that he had no choice but to chop Garnacho down during one counter-attack.
While Dobson was initially handed a yellow card, referee Peter Bankes felt it was worthy of a red after a VAR review.

Garnacho did more than just dribble past Wrexham midfielders and defenders, though. His goal put Chelsea in front for the first time on the night, while he played a significant role in the own goal that Phil Parkinson’s side scored earlier in the cup tie.
Chelsea have a lot of wingers, but you would back Garnacho to stay and outlast Pedro Neto, for example. The £40m Argentina international is younger and was only bought last summer.

As per WhoScored, Garnacho is only averaging 0.6 dribbles per game in the English top flight this season. That number is simply too low for a winger, especially for one of Garnacho’s ability.
At the Racecourse Ground, the former Manchester United man proved that he can be direct and beat other players. Hopefully Chelsea fans now get to see more of that at Stamford Bridge.
