Packers' Romeo Doubs makes Green Bay plans final for free agency

Romeo Doubs is on the verge of free agency.

There are likely many Green Bay Packers fans who would like to sign him to a new contract and keep him in town.

That, though, appears unlikely.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported this in a new article on Sunday:

"Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs plans to hit the market. Talks with Green Bay did not result in a new deal. He'll have several suitors. The Patriots, Commanders and Titans are closely watching his market, along with the 49ers. Doubs is considered by some evaluators to be the best all-around receiver in the group."

Doubs has never had to be a true No. 1 WR for the Packers, but he's also often been Jordan Love's most reliable target over the past few seasons.

That list of suitors is an intriguing one, because they present different opportunities.

The Patriots actually need a WR1 after releasing Stefon Diggs. Doubs would become Drake Maye's top target.

The Commanders already have Terry McLaurin, so Doubs could be the secondary target there.

The Titans have a lot of young pass catchers, but Doubs would become their most established receiver.

The 49ers also have other receiving options, including RB Christian McCaffrey and TE George Kittle, but Doubs would have a chance to become one of Brock Purdy's favorite targets.

It'll be fascinating to see where Doubs ends up. It just doesn't look like it'll be Green Bay.
