Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley.

When give the chance, Tyler Huntley showed he was one of the NFL’s best backup quarterbacks in 2025, stepping in for the Baltimore Ravens to keep their season afloat after a 1-5 start.

Now, the Ravens are taking Huntley and the backup quarterback question off the board for 2026 with a new 2-year contract for Huntley worth up to $11 million.

Huntley went 2-0 in 2 starts in 2025 while filling in for Jackson.

“Tyler Huntley, per sources, has agreed to a 2-yr, $5 million deal to stay in Baltimore,” The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec wrote on X on Saturday. “Incentives could take it up to $11 million.”

Huntley was pressed into service after Jackson’s original backup, Cooper Rush, went 0-2 in his first 2 starts after Jackson injured his hamstring and looked lost on the field.

The Ravens signed Rush to a 2-year, $6.2 million free agent contract before the 2025 season. Huntley signed with the practice squad on August 28 and was elevated to the active roster on October 24.

“Congrats to Tyler Huntley!” Ravens Vault’s Sarah Ellison wrote on her official X account. “Snoop is a good fit behind Lamar Jackson. He was 2-0 in games he started when Lamar was injured last year. One would assume Cooper Rush will be cut after this.”

“Welcome back to Baltimore, Tyler Huntley,” Locked on Ravens podcast host Kevin Oestricher wrote on X.

Not Huntley’s 1st Time Filling In For Jackson

Huntley earned Pro Bowl honors with the Ravens in 2022, when Jackson was injured, and again in 2025 for the same reasons.

Huntley has a 57-9 record over 16 starts as a backup for the Ravens and Miami Dolphins over the last 6 seasons. Huntley went 2-3 as the starter for the Dolphins in 2024 when Tua Tagovailoa was injured.

Huntley Went Undrafted After Starring in Pac-12

Huntley was a 3-year starter at Utah and earned All-Pac-12 honors in his final college season in 2019, when he threw for 3,092 yards, 19 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 14 games to go with 290 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns as the Utes earned a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Huntley went undrafted in 2020 and spent 4 seasons as a backup for the Ravens and for Jackson, stepping in to go 2-2 as the starter in 2022 and somehow making the Pro Bowl — one of the more derided Pro Bowl picks in recent memory.

Through his 16 NFL starts, Huntley has 2,786 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to go with 644 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
