The Green Bay Packers are not going to bring back wide receiver Romeo Doubs in free agency. While they did reach a three-year deal with center Sean Rhyan, reports state that Doubs and the Packers were unable to agree on a new contract. This, of course, comes at no surprise given what he is projected to make on the open market ($13 million a year) and the fact that Green Bay took two wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
This is not an indictment on Doubs’ production. After all, he led the Packers in receptions (55) and receiving yards (724) last year while tying for the team lead in receiving touchdowns (six).
There will, however, be multiple teams interested in Doubs once free agency begins.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has interest from at least four NFL teams
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs (87) leaves the field after getting injured on a pass interference play commited by San Francisco 49ers cornerback Renardo Green (0) in the third quarter during their football game Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, there are four NFL teams with confirmed interest in signing Doubs once he hits free agency:
“Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs plans to hit the market. Talks with Green Bay did not result in a new deal. He’ll have several suitors. The Patriots, Commanders and Titans are closely watching his market, along with the 49ers. Doubs is considered by some evaluators to be the best all-around receiver in the group.”
As one can see from Fowler’s report, the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers are all monitoring Doubs’ market.
New England, who just appeared in the Super Bowl, have announced that they are releasing former Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Going to the Patriots would certainly give Doubs more opportunities to be a top target in their passing game.
San Francisco is an interesting team to watch, too, as Doubs lives in California. Tennessee is still rebuilding, but Doubs has familiarity with their head coach, Robert Saleh, who joined Green Bay’s coaching staff for a short time after he was fired by the New York Jets.
