Everton send scouts to watch £15m Championship wonderkid

Everton are showing an interest in Watford’s Othmane Maamma.

That’s according to SportsBoom, who claim Everton scouts have been closely watching the Watford winger in recent weeks.

Moyes’ current deal expires next year… 🤔

Everton manager David Moyes.

Maamma joined the Championship outfit from Montpellier last summer, and he’s quickly caught the eye.

The 20-year-old, who can operate as a right or left-winger, has registered five goal involvements for Watford.

That doesn’t tell the full story, though, as he’s created a very impressive 24 chances this term, so with better finishing, his assist tally would be much higher.

How much would Everton have to pay to sign Othmane Maamma

The report further adds that Premier League outfit Brentford are rivalling Everton for Maamma’s signature.

If either of them are to sign the 2005-born wide player, it will come at a pretty substantial cost for a Championship player.

He's due to become a free agent in the summer

Everton target Raul Jimenez.

Watford are believed to be demanding around £15m for Maamma, although, they have no reason to sanction his sale.

The Morocco youth international, who won the under-20 World Cup last year, is under contract at Vicarage Road for another three years.

Maamaa is more than likely a Friedkin Group target, as the Everton owners are keen to recruit young talent to drive down the average age of Moyes’ squad.

The American investors have visions of replicating Borussia Dortmund’s model; signing Europe’s best talent and selling for a big profit.

Does David Moyes need to put more trust in Everton’s academy players? 😤

Surely some of these players can do better than Beto and Dwight McNeil! 😡

Whether that’s possible under Moyes’ stewardship remains to be seen, as the Scotsman places most of his trust in experienced players.

Tyler Dibling and Adam Aznou have barely had a look in despite joining as very highly-rated young players.

In fact, Aznou hasn’t even been given his Premier League debut yet, so perhaps Everton will struggle to attract Maamma.

The Watford winger will want regular game time at this stage of his career.
