Chris Godwin wants Mike Evans to Return to Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2026

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and wide receiver Mike Evans have been together since he was drafted in 2014. He has proven to be one of the top wide receivers in the NFL over that time, but he is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Chris Godwin, another receiver with the Bucs who went through the free agent process, spoke about wanting to stay with his teammate in Tampa Bay. Let’s take a closer look at what he said.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times spoke with wide receiver Chris Godwin about free agent Mike Evans, with whom he spent his entire career as a teammate. Below is what Godwin said regarding the situation:

“It would be so weird. I can’t imagine talking to him on a different field and seeing him in a different jersey. . . .I hope that he’s here. I don’t know the intricacies of the deal. Everybody does their own thing. I don’t know what he’s willing to take and I don’t know what they’re willing to offer. But I hope that he’s back, for a lot of reasons, but he’s my brother.”

Evans has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the history of the sport, posting 11 consecutive seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards. However, last year was hampered by injuries as he would play in only eight games and finish with 30 receptions on 62 targets for 368 yards (12.3 yards per catch) with three touchdowns. It will be intriguing to see how things play out with Evans’ future, whether it is with the Buccaneers or with another team.
