Newcastle United have been linked with a potential swoop for former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
Newcastle United and Chelsea are reportedly targeting former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
Just eight months after joining the club, the Uruguayan was brutally told he is no longer required. Al-Hilal signed Karim Benzema in January, who took Nunez’s foreign place.
Saudi clubs are only permitted to register 10 overseas stars in their squad. Nunez’s career is now at a crossroads less than a year on from his Liverpool exit.
Chelsea interest emerges
It is now being reported that Chelsea will rival Newcastle for his signature. The 26-year-old is hoping to return to Europe and will take a mammoth pay cut to do so.
According to the report, Nunez has already held preliminary discussions with the Blues. NewcastleWorld is not aware of firm interest from the Toon camp regarding the striker.
Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa arrived last summer for a combined £120million. Any move for Nunez would need to be significantly less than the £64million transfer fee Al-Hilal paid Liverpool.
