Max Strus is nearing his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing the start of the season due to offseason foot surgery. Coach Kenny Atkinson confirmed that the veteran wing is close to finishing his recovery but still has one final medical check before being cleared to play.
The Cleveland Cavaliers could soon welcome back Max Strus. Hours before Sunday's matchup against the Boston Celtics, coach Kenny Atkinson offered an update on the veteran wing, confirming that one last medical check remains before Strus can be cleared.

"He's ramping up," Atkinson said, via Locked On Cavs host Danny Cunningham. "I do believe he's got one more visit with the doctor — I'm not sure when that is, I know it's coming up to kind of confirm we're doing alright."
Strus was officially ruled out for Sunday's game against Boston, extending his absence as he continues to get back to full health.
While a precise return date remains fluid, Atkinson's comments suggest the guard is approaching the final hurdle before making his season debut.
During the 2024-25 regular season, Strus played 50 games, averaging 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 25.5 minutes per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from three-point range.
He elevated his play in the postseason, posting 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists across nine playoff games.
