With a home matchup in Wisconsin on Sunday, March 8, the Milwaukee Bucks are planning to roll shorthanded against the Orlando Magic.

Hours before the game, the Bucks announced that the star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo had been ruled out. The team is labeling his absence as due to injury management.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (injury management) listed out Sunday.

This season has been difficult for Giannis on the health front. On multiple occasions, he missed a stretch of games. Back in early December, Giannis had an eight-game absence. After appearing in 13 games following his return, Giannis suffered a calf strain during a January 23 matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

That setback fired up his longest stretch of absences this season.

After missing 14 games in a row, Giannis finally returned to the court for the Bucks on March 2. He checked in for 25 minutes against the Boston Celtics. Although Antetokounmpo had a productive night with 19 points and 11 rebounds, the Bucks lost 108-81 against the Celtics.

In the following game, Giannis checked in for 26 minutes against the Atlanta Hawks. The veteran star shot 66% from the field to score 24 points. He also had five rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

On Saturday, March 7, the Bucks hosted the Utah Jazz, which opened up their back-to-back set. Once again, Giannis clocked in for under 30 minutes. In 27 minutes, he made 64% of his shots to produce 27 points. Antetokounmpo teased a triple-double with nine rebounds and eight assists. He also landed four steals on the defensive end of the floor.

Coming off a 113-99 win over the Jazz, Antetokounmpo will pick up a night of rest. After the Bucks take on the Magic, they’ll get back out on their home court on March 10. The Bucks will face the Phoenix Suns. Antetokounmpo’s status for that game is unclear.
