Packers wide receiver trade rumor could lead to deal with Steelers, Patriots or Broncos

Two young wide receivers on the Green Bay Packers are receiving trade interest ahead of NFL free agency.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Packers have taken calls on the availability of receivers Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed.

Fowler adds that Green Bay likely wants to retain Reed, but that means Wicks could be available.

"Also, Brown isn't the only receiver potentially available. Baltimore's Rashod Bateman, Los Angeles' Quentin Johnston and Green Bay's Dontayvion Wicks have come up in my talks. Teams have interest in Green Bay's Jayden Reed, but I don't sense the Packers would trade him at this point," Fowler said.

There are just too many mouths to feed in the Packers' young receiver room, so it would make sense for Green Bay to trade one of the players in the position group.

It sounds like Wicks is the more likely trade candidate, as he is on the final year of his deal on top of being in a crowded receiver room. The Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos could have interest in the 24-year-old.

Pittsburgh needs to add more playmakers for their 2026 starting quarterback, and Wicks could blossom in a featured role next to DK Metcalf with the Steelers.

New England is also in the receiver market after releasing Stefon Diggs, so they could pursue Wicks in a trade, though he won't solve their issues at the position.

Denver also needs to find a capable No. 2 receiver opposite Courtland Sutton, and Wicks could be that guy. In a limited role with the Packers in 2025, Wicks tallied 332 yards and two touchdowns. During his rookie campaign in 2023, he snagged 39 receptions for 581 yards and four touchdowns.

We'll see if Green Bay even entertains a trade for Wicks, but if the Packers do move someone in the receiver group, it'll likely be the Virginia product.
