Why LeBron James isn't playing today for Lakers vs. Knicks with injury news

The [Los Angeles Lakers](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/los-angeles-lakers) are playing one of those awesome, marquee NBA matchups on Sudnay.

It's Lakers-[Knicks](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/new-york-knicks), except it'll be missing something: LeBron James.

James isn't playing against the Knicks despite being still near the top of his game at age 41.

It's a bummer, at least to an extent, for everyone tuning in wanting to see King James do his thing.

Why isn't LeBron James playing today?

-------------------------------------

LeBron isn't playing on Sunday due to injury.

He was a game-time decision, and before tip-off, he was ruled out.

James is out with left elbow contusion and left foot arthritis. Apparently, the left side of his body isn't cooperating on Sunday.

LeBron hasn't been perfectly healthy this season, but when on the court, he's still been really good.

The King is averaging 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game for the Lakers this season.

He's also shooting 50.4% from the floor and 74.5% from the foul line.

James' contract is up at the end of the year, which will create questions about retirement and free agency.

For now, though, the Lakers will just hope he can get back to action sooner rather than later.
