Man Utd and Arsenal have already shown Liverpool what they need to do this summer - Opinion

Liverpool spent an absolute fortune last summer as we all know but when the window rolls around this summer, the Reds need to make sure they sign readymade talent.

The Reds spent big sums in the summer on players who will likely be good players for the club. Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak will all be good additions in time.

However, when it comes to being champions again, Liverpool need something for the immediate.

If you could buy ANY Premier League player right now, who are you signing for Liverpool this summer?

Why Liverpool need to follow Arsenal’s lead in the transfer market

In fairness to the board in the summer, the signing of Alexander Isak was meant to be the one that took Liverpool to the next level.

Ultimately, it didn’t work and then when he got injured, it just capped things off on that front.

However, the rest of the summer signings all came with an element of risk attached and given their young ages, they should – in theory – be a success.

This summer though, Liverpool have GOT to get it right. That means signing a player in the position they see most needed who is already made for the Premier League. Arsenal did that very thing when they signed Declan Rice, and we can all see just how good he has been for the Gunners.

Rice’s importance not only on the field but off it for Arsenal has been massive. Now, they’re on the verge of being champions, with Rice the driving force.

Whether for Liverpool it be a defender, a central midfielder or that elusive Mo Salah replacement, it’s imperative that whoever comes in is battle tested in the Premier League.

Sure, those players come at a premium as we saw with Isak. But they are out there.

Another example of that working out is Bryan Mbeumo at Manchester United, while Newcastle have also had success in signing Anthony Gordon.

Gordon, of course, is admired at Anfield and he’d fit the bill of what we’re talking about here.

If Liverpool and FSG do get it right this summer, then there’s no reason why the club cannot challenge again next season.
