Report: Everton given golden chance to sign Troy Parrott as AZ Alkmaar slash price tag

Everton have been linked with a move to sign Troy Parrott for several months.

It was first reported back in November that Everton had scouts watching Troy Parrott for the Republic of Ireland.

Parrott has enjoyed a sensational season for club and country, as he’s netted 24 goals for AZ Alkmaar and five for Ireland, including a hat-trick against Hungary.

David Moyes is ‘fixated’ on signing a new striker, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if he reignites his interest in Parrott this summer.

That said, Everton have been given a golden chance to land his signature as a fresh report claims he has a new price tag.

It was initially reported that Alkmaar wanted £31m for Parrott, but no suitors got near that figure in January.

Clearly, they are keen to offload the 24-year-old whilst his stock is high and make a substantial profit on him, so they’ve now reduced his price tag to draw in a bidding war.

According to Sportsboom, the Dutch outfit are now demanding just £15m for Parrott, which seems like an absolute bargain.

Whether that’d be enough to agree a deal remains to be seen, but either way, Everton should certainly test the waters with a bid in that region.

The former Tottenham Hotspur frontman is also wanted by Fulham and Wolfsburg, so they are facing competition.

Some Everton fans aren’t totally convinced by Parrott, as they fear it may be too big a risk, considering the difference in quality between the Eredivisie and the Premier League.

Plus, knowing Moyes’ approach to younger players, perhaps it’d take some time before he’s even given a proper run in the side.

The Toffees are also believed to be eyeing Raul Jimenez and Alexander Sorloth, who are both 30-years-old and above.
