Jayson Tatum breaks silence on minutes restriction after injury

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has returned from a torn Achilles in under 300 days, but says the toughest part isn't scoring, it's playing under a strict minutes restriction.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is slowly finding his rhythm after returning from a major injury, but the toughest part for him hasn't been scoring or rebounding, it's the strict minutes limit.

"Toughest part for me is just being on a minutes restriction. That s**t sucks, quite frankly," Tatum admitted after his second game back, per Celtics writer John Karalis.

The 28-year-old forward suffered a torn Achilles during the first round of last season's playoffs against the New York Knicks, a devastating injury that sidelined him for nearly 300 days.

Despite the severity, Tatum returned faster than many expected, making his Celtics comeback less than 10 months after the injury.

In his first game back, Tatum played 27 minutes, finishing with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, showing flashes of the dominant player he is. He logged the same 27 minutes in his second game, contributing 20 points and three rebounds.

For comparison, New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray returned from his own Achilles tear after missing 389 days, and even then was limited to 25 minutes per game.
