A Premier League defender is thought to be on Man United’s radar this summer
Manchester United are aiming to qualify for the Champions League this season and are in pole position to secure their goal with nine matches remaining.
The decision will then need to be made of who should be the Red Devils’ next permanent manager, with head coach Michael Carrick looking to impress in the role until the end of the season with the hope of earning the chance to take the reins next term.
United have seen links with improvements in several positions ahead of this summer, with the midfield expected to be a key area to strengthen while another winger may also arrive.
The Red Devils have also been touted to swoop for a new left-back at the end of the season. Fabrizio Romano has suggested that a successful move for Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde might be unlikely, while another potential target has come to the fore.
Antonee Robinson to Man Utd transfer links
According to reports by GiveMeSport, Man United are discussing a move to sign Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson this summer.
The reports relay information from journalist Sebastien Vidal, who wrote on X: “Antonee Robinson is attracting interest. Manchester United and Aston Villa are closely following the Fulham left-back and considering a possible move this summer. A deal around £25M is being discussed for the American international.”
The 28-year-old has been limited to just 13 Premier League appearances this term due to injury but earnt rave reviews in previous campaigns due to his all-action displays up the left flank.
GiveMeSport speculate that links between USA manager Maricio Pochettino and the United job could mean that the Red Devils get the edge in negotiations for Robinson, who is a target for Villa and has also received previous interest from Liverpool.
Fulham boss Marco Silva has praised Robinson frequently as ‘one of the best’ in his position in the Premier League, while United could sign the former Everton man to provide competition to injury-prone Luke Shaw and the impressive Patrick Dorgu, who has often played further forward under Carrick.
