Patriots Trade Pitch Sees Them Land Myles Garrett In Stunning Blockbuster

The New England Patriots have been involved in quite a few trade rumors early on this offseason. While they missed out on Maxx Crosby, who was dealt to the Baltimore Ravens, all signs indicate that they are still in on Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who could be on the move before free agency opens.

Acquiring Brown would be nice, but the Pats also need help on their defensive line still. Crosby is no longer on the board, but one guy who could be in a similar situation with his team is Cleveland Browns' superstar Myles Garrett. While his name hasn't been popping up in trade rumors this offseason, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report believes New England should make a push to acquire Garrett.

"The Patriots have a need on the edge of the defensive line. Last year, they logged 35 sacks in the regular season, which was tied for the seventh-fewest in the NFL," Davenport wrote. "With nearly $44 million in cap space, the Patriots also have the financial resources to absorb Garrett's contract. Making this sort of blockbuster would mean the Patriots are pushing all their chips into the center of the table."

Davenport's proposed trade package has the Pats giving up their first-round picks in the 2026 and 2027 drafts, in addition to a third-round pick in this year's draft. That's more than the Ravens gave up for Crosby, but if there's a player who is better than Crosby, it's Garrett, as he's fresh off breaking the NFL's single-season sack record in 2025.

Considering how Cleveland signed Garrett to a massive four-year, $160 million contract extension just last offseason, it remains to be seen if they'd even be willing to entertain the idea of trading Garrett. If he's sick of losing, though, and wants to force his way out of town, the Patriots would be wise to make a call to the Browns and see if they can hammer out a deal.
