Kenneth Walker III landing spots: The Seattle Seahawks running back is being linked to a surprising team in free agency.
Pretty much every team in the NFL would like to get their hands on Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III and get him on their squad. In that spirit, the Kenneth Walker III free agency talk just won’t stop during the offseason and as free agency nears.
Walker is a large part of why the Seahawks got to the Super Bowl in the 2025-26 season and ultimately won it. It’s why Walker was named the Super Bowl MVP. But, Walker is going to get a large pay raise come free agency on Wednesday, March 11, and he may be too expensive for the Seattle Seahawks.
So, where will Walker end up? While the usual names have been popping up, from the Denver Broncos to Washington Commanders, now, one highly unexpected team has emerged in the conversations about where Walker will land after March 11.
Kenneth Walker III Free Agency: Seattle Seahawks Player is Worth a Big Pay Raise
So, with the Seahawks likely not able to pay Walker what he’ll be at market value, he’ll probably end up elsewhere. The running back and Michigan State University product started in all 17 regular season games for the Seattle Seahawks and was a force on the field.
Walker closed out the regular run with 221 carries for 1,027 rushing yards and five touchdowns, according to NFL research, and averaged 4.6 yards per attempt.
CBS Analyst Emory Hunt has a bold prediction that the Minnesota Vikings will sign Kenneth Walker III in free agency. He gave his take on Sunday, March 8, in a segment on CBS Sports. Walker with the Vikings would be a shocker, but never say never in the NFL.
Of course, he’s also projected to land elsewhere. In a Saturday, March 7, feature for Fox Sports, Greg Auman lay out 100 free agents and where they’ll land, according to his research and projections.
“Teams are placing the franchise tag on players set to hit the open market or re-signing them to new deals, which could shake this list up,” he notes in the feature. “Players can start officially signing with new teams on Wednesday, March 11, and over a billion dollars worth of new contracts will be written by NFL teams in a short amount of time.”
Another Unexpected Landing Spot for Kenneth Walker III in Free Agency
So, where does he see Walker? He think he’ll just stay with the Seattle Seahawks. That’s actually another surprising choice.
“Walker, 25, ramped it up in the playoffs with four touchdowns before running his way to Super Bowl MVP after rushing for 1,027 yards in the regular season,” he notes in the feature. “Seattle was a good bet to extend him already, but the injury to Zach Charbonnet should make that more of a priority. Can he clear $10 million a year on a new contract?”
He adds, “The Seahawks are a Super Bowl team still somehow ranked in the top five in available cap space for 2026, so it’s hard to imagine them not paying to bring him back as a central part of their offense moving forward.”
As the anticipation builds, we can rest easy that the answers will come out soon. Here’s to Walker staying in Seattle or finding a welcoming new home.
