According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, a couple of Packers wide receivers have popped up in conversations around the league: Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.
Both players are heading into contract years. Teams are always looking to get ahead of the market, and that often means poking around on players who might be approaching new deals with their current clubs.
Fowler reported that Wicks’ name has surfaced in trade discussions alongside receivers like Baltimore’s Rashod Bateman and the Chargers’ Quentin Johnston. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Packers are actively shopping him, but it does indicate other teams see potential value there. Wicks has flashed intriguing upside during his time in Green Bay, showing the ability to win off the line and make plays down the field. It’s not surprising that teams around the league would at least inquire.
Reed’s situation appears a bit different. Fowler noted that there is interest from other teams, but the sense around the league is that the Packers aren’t looking to move him. That tracks with what we’ve seen on the field. Reed has quickly become one of the most dynamic weapons in Matt LaFleur’s offense, capable of impacting games both as a receiver and with the ball in his hands in the run game.
Every team in the league gets calls on players this time of year. For the Packers, who have built a young and talented wide receiver room, moving either Reed or Wicks would feel counterproductive.
Still, as free agency approaches, it’s a reminder that the rest of the league is definitely paying attention to Green Bay’s young talent.
