Maxx Crosby trade: The edge's farewell message is a total tear-jerker, and it should make the Detroit Lions emotional.
For years, the Detroit Lions‘ base has salivated over the idea of bringing Las Vegas Raiders edge Maxx Crosby back to his home state of Michigan.
It was meant to be until it wasn’t. On Friday, March 6, news emerged that Crosby is packing his bags and being traded to the Baltimore Ravens. That news ended the dream of the Lions seeing Crosby back in the Mitten and playing alongside elite edge in Aidan Hutchinson.
So, it’s not happening. Instead, the Raiders have agreed to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl defensive end to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. “The trade cannot be processed until next week, but it is in place,” he added of the deal. “And Crosby is expected to be a Raven with two 1s back to Vegas.”
Maxx Crosby Gives a Farewell Message That Should Make the Detroit Lions Tear Up
According to NFL research, during the 2025 NFL regular season, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception. He’s at the top of his game.
On Saturday, March 7, Crosby broke his silence and took to social media to express his thoughts on the trade. His message was so sincere that it should make those in his home state of Michigan emotional.
“Raider Nation has given me everything,” Crosby said in the message. “My family, had the chance to get married, have the most beautiful daughter in the world, grow as a man, as a player, as a leader, a human being. One thing I could say is above all else is that I gave you everything I got and I have no regrets about that. I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”
Crosby also said that he was surprised about the trade but that there are no hard feelings. “I have zero ill will towards that organization in any way,” Crosby said. “I want them to have all the success in the world.”
Maxx Crosby Stayed Out of the Drama During Trade Talks
Crosby was quiet during trade talks, and that was on purpose. He said in his farewell message that he wanted to keep to his job of playing football.
“I decided to be quiet because there is so much noise, and ultimately, I’m a football player,” Crosby said. “That’s my job. It’s to get healthy, to be the best version of myself. Not to be in drama, not to be involved with all the other stuff.”
He also wants to retire a Raider, so it doesn’t sound like he’s even think about the Lions at any point. “I wanted everything good for the Raiders,” Crosby said. “I bleed silver and black. That will never change and I’m a Raider for life. “And I truly wanna finish when it’s all said and done, in a Raiders jersey, whenever that time comes.”
So, the Maxx Crosby trade finally happened, and the Lions didn’t get him. But, at least he didn’t go to Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears.
