Chelsea take on PSG in the first leg of the Round of 16 UCL clash at Parc des Princes on the 11th of March, 2026.
Chelsea face Paris Saint-Germain on March 11 in the Champions League Round of 16, renewing a rivalry that has produced some memorable encounters over the years. The two clubs have faced each other nine times in their history, with eight of those meetings coming in the Champions League.
Club World Cup Final Victory
The most recent clash came last summer at the Club World Cup final in New Jersey. Chelsea produced an outstanding display to beat PSG 3-0 and be crowned world champions. Cole Palmer opened the scoring, before adding another 8 minutes later at the half-hour mark. Just before the end of the first-half, then-new-comer, Joao Pedro made it 3-0. The Blues dominated Luis Enrique’s reigning European champions from start to finish, delivering a statement performance on the biggest stage.
Chelsea beat PSG 3-0 in their first encounter back in the 2004-05 Champions League group stage. The most famous meeting came in the quarter-finals in 2014, when Demba Ba’s late goal at Stamford Bridge helped Chelsea eliminate PSG on away goals after a dramatic two-legged tie.
Ahead of this Round of 16 clash, Chelsea look to have strengthened under new manager Liam Rosenior. They have only lost to one team since Rosenior has taken over, and that is the league leaders, Arsenal. PSG, meanwhile, have looked shaky of late. Although they are 1st in Ligue 1, they have been dropping points often of late, and also didn’t finish in the top 8 spots in the UCL group stage.
