Raiders May Already Have a Maxx Crosby Replacement

The Las Vegas Raiders made a blockbuster trade deal on Friday, March 6, with the team trading the beloved defensive end to the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl defensive end to Baltimore in return for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks. “The trade cannot be processed until next week, but it is in place,” he adds. “And Crosby is expected to be a Raven with two 1s back to Vegas.”

Now, the Raiders will have to make a move to fill their edge position, and they may already have one in mind.

In a Saturday, March 7, feature for Fox Sports, Greg Auman discusses 100 free agents and where they’ll end up. “Players can start officially signing with new teams on Wednesday, March 11,” he notes in the piece, “and over a billion dollars worth of new contracts will be written by NFL teams in a short amount of time.”

Here’s where he sees the Raiders snagging a Crosby replacement. He projects the team will pick up edge Boye Mafe of the Seattle Seahawks.

“Seattle’s defense was outstanding, giving up the fewest points in the league, and Mafe is an undervalued part of that front,” he notes in the feature. “ESPN has a ‘pass rush win rate’ statistic, and Mafe had the eighth-best pass rush win rate in the NFL, just two spots below the Browns’ Myles Garrett.”

He adds, “Seattle has plenty of cap space to bring him back, but if it doesn’t, keep an eye on the Raiders, who are hiring Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.”

It’s worth noting that he also says that Mafe “has seen his sack totals go down sharply in the last two years, from nine in 2023 to six in 2024 and just two in 2025,” but that could also make him a bargain for the Raiders.

According to NFL statistics, during the 2025 NFL regular season, Crosby had 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.
