Drake Maye Angers Fans With Jersey Choice At World Baseball Classic

Drake Maye and his wife, Anne Michael Maye, made an appearance at the World Baseball Classic over the weekend.

The New England Patriots quarterback and his wife, his high school sweetheart, attended a game between Japan and Korea. Japan, led by MLB star Shohei Ohtani, topped Korea, 8-6, in the WBC group stage game.

Major League Baseball's official account on X shared a photo of Maye at the game. The second-year NFL quarterback is rocking a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey, presumably Ohtani's No. 17.

MLB said that "New England royalty" was in the house.

"Patriots QB Drake "Drake Maye" Maye and Ann Michael Maye in the Tokyo Dome for Team Korea vs. Team Japan!" they said.

But Boston-area fans took issue with this.

The Red Sox and the Dodgers have had some famous battles over the years. New England fans don't like seeing Maye in an L.A. jersey.

Fans take issue with Maye's jersey choice

"Get that man a new jersey!" one wrote.

"Dude. Drake man. NEVER wear a Dodger jersey again. It's Redsox only bro," one shared.

"He's my QB, but where's the Red Sox jersey? And I'm saying that as a Braves fan. Haha. :)" one fan added.

Others, meanwhile, are defending him.

"Man... He is from NC. They don't have a baseball Team and his favorite player growing up was probably a Dodger so he became a fan or he is a fan of S.O. Even myself as a Boston native was a huge fan of Kobe despite being a C's lifer I own a Kobe jersey," one shared.

"Tom Brady doesn't even root for the patriots and pats fans mad that Drake Maye is wearing a dodgers jersey," another shared.

The World Baseball Classic continues on Monday.
