With NFL free agency only hours away and the legal tampering window about to open, the Green Bay Packers could soon be saying goodbye to a portion of their 2025 roster.

Green Bay has already begun addressing some of those potential departures. The team recently traded for Zaire Franklin from the Indianapolis Colts, a move that could help fill the void if the Packers move on from pass rusher Rashan Gary as a cap casualty.

Another notable player who appears headed for the open market is wide receiver Romeo Doubs. While losing Doubs would sting, the Packers at least have depth at the position, which could make the departure easier to absorb.

Doubs is expected to be one of the more intriguing wide receivers available this cycle, meaning he could land a significant contract from his next team.

The question now is who that team will be?

Chiefs Could Make Sense as Landing Spot For Packers’ Romeo Doubs

Doubs should draw interest from several wide receiver–needy teams.

He is coming off a season in which he led the Packers in receptions (55) and receiving yards (724), while tying Christian Watson and Tucker Kraft with six touchdowns.

One potential landing spot mentioned as a logical fit is the Kansas City Chiefs.

“The Chiefs are in an odd spot. Their three recent titles plus Patrick Mahomes suggest a win-now era, but significant potential free-agent losses, the McDuffie trade, a six-win 2025 and Mahomes coming off a torn ACL say otherwise,” wrote Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports.

“In Romeo Doubs, the Chiefs get a reliable wide receiver who is bigger, more physical and more well-rounded than their current group of outside pass catchers. Plus, he’s 25, so age is on both his and the Chiefs’ side.”

At 6-foot-2 and 204 pounds, Doubs offers the size and physicality many teams look for in an outside receiver. His production last season suggested he may not be a traditional WR1, but he is certainly capable of serving as a strong No. 2 option.

Kansas City could use that kind of presence.

Last season, Travis Kelce once again led the team in receiving with 851 yards. Hollywood Brown finished second with 587 yards, while tying Kelce with five touchdown catches.

Several Teams Monitoring Romeo Doubs Market

Doubs was said to be open to returning to Green Bay, even with the crowded receiver room that includes Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams.

However, that reunion now appears unlikely.

“Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs plans to hit the market. Talks with Green Bay did not result in a new deal,” wrote Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Fowler also noted several teams already keeping a close eye on Doubs’ market.

“The Patriots, Commanders and Titans are closely watching his market, along with the 49ers,” Fowler reported. “Doubs is considered by some evaluators to be the best all-around receiver in the group.”

That gives Doubs multiple potential landing spots once free agency begins.

Ultimately, the decision could come down to highest bidder. According to Spotrac, Doubs’ projected market value sits around $12 million per year on a four-year deal worth roughly $48 million.
