Martin Ødegaard is set to shun interest from elsewhere to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
There has been plenty of speculation about the future of the Gunners’ captain, with suggestions that he was unhappy about his status at the club, and reports that he and Mikel Arteta had fallen out.
A series of injuries – first to his shoulder and then more recently to his knee – have also limited his availability, with Bukayo Saka frequently captaining the side in his absence.
But now it has emerged that the Norwegian international has no intention of leaving the Emirates Stadium, and that he wants to negotiate fresh terms in the coming months.
He has just over two years left on his existing deal, and, contrary to other theories, Arteta is keen for him to commit his future to Arsenal, in line with other major stars such as Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel.
