Report: Man Utd now facing serious threat as "phenomenal" PL star wants to join Liverpool…

Manchester United are facing a serious threat in the race for a Premier League star, as he now wants to join Liverpool instead.

Reds hold advantage in race for "phenomenal" player

As things stand, it is advantage Man United in the race for the Champions League, given that they are sitting three points above Arne Slot's side, in third place, but with nine games still to play, there is time for plenty more twists and turns.

Of course, the Reds have been far more successful than their rivals in recent years, winning the Premier League title in Slot's first season in charge, after a period of unbelievable success under Jurgen Klopp, but there have been some concerning performances this season.

Virgil van Dijk was particularly disappointed by the recent 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers, saying*: "It was slow, we were predictable, sloppy in possession and wrong decision-making.*

Van-Dijk-Liverpool

"Obviously we didn't concede chances but if you perform like that then a result like this can be a result of that and that's a fact. It was disappointing."

However, since then, Liverpool have responded by defeating Wolves 3-1 in the FA Cup, and it appears they may still hold the edge over their rivals when it comes to attracting Premier League stars, despite their current league position.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Man United are facing a serious threat from Liverpool in the race for Fulham defender Antonee Robinson, as he would prefer to move to Anfield instead of Old Trafford.

The left-back, who is valued at £25m, is a serious target for the Red Devils, but a move to Merseyside appears to be more appealing, with the Reds also keen on strengthening at left-back this summer, given the uncertainty surrounding Andy Robertson's future.

"Phenomenal" Robinson could be Kerkez upgrade

Lauded as "absolutely phenomenal" by journalist Toby Bryant, the American defender is very experienced in the Premier League, making 149 appearances in the competition, during which time he's picked up 17 assists.

Although the 28-year-old has suffered with injuries this season, he was impressed when available, averaging two tackles per game in the Premier League, which is the second-highest in the Fulham squad, whereas Milos Kerkez has averaged 1.5.

The USA international also outperforms the Hungarian in terms of interceptions, averaging 0.9 per game, compared to 0.7 from the Liverpool star, which suggests he could be an upgrade from a defensive point of view.

£25m feels like a very reasonable fee for a player of Robinson's quality, and he could be an excellent replacement for Robertson.
