Man City Handed Fresh Boost In £70M Transfer Battle As Manager Makes Contract Admission

**Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has admitted that Man City target Tino Livramento is no closer to signing a new contract.**

The 23-year-old has just over two years remaining on his current deal, and the Magpies were hoping to get a fresh commitment from the player to ward off interest from the Cityzens and Arsenal. However, when asked in his pre-match press conference about how things were progressing on Livramento’s contract extension, Howe gave a very short response:

“No update.”

Howe’s remarks appear to provide more confirmation that the right-back isn’t looking to extend his stay at St James’ Park. The player has never suggested he would sign a new deal. Speaking back in November, he stopped short of saying he would commit his future to the Magpies:

“That’s nothing that I’m in control of. I leave that to my dad, to my agent.”

It has since been [**claimed**](https://mancitynews.com/man-city-transfer-news-tino-livramento-8/) that Livramento is interested in moving to a top club, but he won’t force a move away from Newcastle.

Man City know how much the fullback will cost

---------------------------------------------

It is believed that a fee between £60m and £70m would be sufficient to land Livramento when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been pursuing the England international for the best part of a year, so you would assume that a formal bid is in the works.

Some fans would be hesitant about paying so much for Livramento, considering his chequered injury record, but he would be an upgrade on the club’s current first-choice right-back, Matheus Nunes.

The Portuguese international has adapted well after being converted from a midfielder, but Livramento possesses many attributes that make him a more natural fit for the position.
