£35M Rated South American Star Makes Transfer Wish Clear As He Admits He's "A Big Liverpool Fan"

**Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez has expressed his desire to join Liverpool in the future.**

Reports in South America [**linked**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-transfer-news-joel-ordonez-5/) both Liverpool and Chelsea with the Ecuadorian international at the end of last year.

When asked recently whether he would be keen on making the switch to Anfield, Ordonez did not hide his feelings:

“I hope so. It would be great if I could go to the Premier League. That’s my favourite league, which, given my size, should suit me well. As a child, I was also a big Liverpool fan.”

How much would Ordonez cost?

----------------------------

It is believed that Club Brugge have slapped an asking price of around €40m (£35m) on the 21-year-old.

Whether Ordonez would be worth such an outlay, it is up for debate. Despite still being pretty young, the centre-back has racked up nearly 150 appearances in European football, having also played 22 matches in the Champions League.

However, some will argue that the Belgian Pro League is not the strongest, and he is relatively untested in terms of playing top teams, week in, week out.

Liverpool need a decision from Konate first

-------------------------------------------

While the Reds have already splashed out over £50m on Jeremy Jacquet, there could be room in the squad for another centre-half if Ibrahima Konate leaves at the end of his contract.

The Frenchman is closing in on the final few months of his current deal, and there is no indication that he will put pen to paper on an extension.

Real Madrid are said to be keen on Konate, and if he does leave for the Bernabeu on a free transfer this summer, a replacement would be needed. It remains to be seen, though, whether Ordonez is classed as a top target by sporting director Richard Hughes.
