Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins has moved into the crosshairs of Liverpool FC ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22‑year‑old is enjoying a breakout year under Albert Riera and, according to multiple reports, has made it clear he is ready for a summer move – with the Premier League firmly on his mind.
Sky Germany reported that Liverpool scouts were in the stands last weekend to watch Collins in Eintracht’s 2‑0 win over Freiburg. That appearance is said to be one of a number of live checks the Reds have made on the defender in recent months, as they build a detailed picture ahead of a possible summer bid.
Collins has emerged as a regular under Riera, featuring at centre‑back and on both flanks, which has only strengthened his appeal to clubs looking for a modern, athletic, multi‑functional defender.
Eintracht, who has tied Collins to a long‑term deal running to 2030, are expected to demand in the region of €40–60m, with figures around £35m widely cited as a likely starting point in negotiations. Liverpool are not alone in the race – Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle, Brighton and Brentford have all been credited with interest – but the sense from Germany is that if the Reds firm up their scouting with a concrete offer, Collins would be ready to push hard to make an Anfield move happen.
However, the player has now responded to the reports and claims that he has been surprised by the rumours surrounding him:
“It actually bounces off me pretty well, I’m reading these rumours for the first time myself, which is why I’m partly surprised. I’m very happy to be here at Eintracht,” the German international said as quoted by Absolut Fussball.
We probably shouldn’t look too deeply in his quotes as he is speaking as a professional to the media. However, he has previously spoken of his admiration for the Premier League and has even name‑checked Liverpool as a “dream” destination, comments that have resurfaced in German and English coverage over the last week.
