“We didn’t have a lot to start”: Doc Rivers blames injuries and playmaking struggles after…

Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks fell 130 – 91 to the Orlando Magic in Milwaukee on Sunday night.

Bobby Portis led the team in scoring with 18 points and dominated the boards with 10 rebounds, the highest on the floor for Milwaukee. Ryan Rollins shouldered much of the responsibility for the Milwaukee Bucks, putting up 15 points, one rebound, one assist, and three steals.

Doc Rivers said via The Athletic’s Eric Nehm that the Bucks struggled with playmaking against the Orlando Magic tonight, noting that, “It was too much on Rhino (Ryan Rollins), honestly. Ous was the other ballhandler tonight. We just didn’t have a lot to start. We did run our stuff, didn’t run it well. They were up pressuring us. They were taking us out of stuff. They knew what we had as far as – it’s one thing to have injuries. It’s another thing when you have injuries to everybody who facilitates your offense, puts you in a tough spot.”

The Bucks played without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was resting a calf injury, while Kevin Porter Jr. missed the contest with a knee problem and Kyle Kuzma stayed out due to a back injury.

Cam Thomas added 17 points and contributed six assists for the Milwaukee Bucks, while Jericho Sims recorded 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Milwaukee struggled out of the gate, missing its first eight three point attempts and shooting just 30 percent from the field, falling behind 25-15 early. The Bucks lacked the firepower to keep pace with the Orlando Magic, who improved to 35-28 with their fourth consecutive win.

Doc Rivers’ men committed 16 turnovers, which the Magic turned into 21 points. Milwaukee’s offense never found a rhythm, closing the game at just 42 percent shooting from the field and hitting only 30 percent of their three point attempts.
