The Las Vegas Raiders are getting ready for the tampering period of free agency. They made the move to trade Maxx Crosby to spark off the offseason moves, and made another move on Sunday to add to the defense.
Sunday Night, John Spytek added to the secondary by trading for Buffalo Bills slot cornerback Taron Johnson. He was expecting to be released by the Bills when transactions were official on Wednesday, but the Raiders pounced and got the veteran slot cornerback.
Johnson has spent his whole career in Buffalo and was a first-team All-Pro in 2023. He has had a few struggles over the past two seasons, which led the team to cut ties with the former Weber State Wildcat. Johnson will be looking to bounce back with the Silver and Black, who will be taking on his $8 Million dollar contract, which seems to be a one-year rental.
It will be an upgrade for the Raiders, who do not have a starting slot cornerback on the roster. Hopefully, he can return to form and help the Raiders’ defense, which currently lacks a plethora of talent.
