Denver Nuggets Get Shocking Jamal Murray News vs Thunder

During a Friday night meeting between the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks, Jamal Murray had to be helped off the court right before the first half concluded.

It was a scary sight for the Nuggets and their fan base as it seemed Murray might have suffered a significant injury. The Nuggets didn't rule Murray out right away. Although he wasn't on the court for the start of the second half, the Nuggets labeled him as questionable due to an ankle injury. In the end, he wasn't able to return.

On Sunday, the Nuggets got some clarity on Murray's status. They ended up getting a shocking update that confirmed the veteran star dodged a major injury. Denver will feel good going forward, as it seems Murray has a real shot to play again on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The All-Star Season Continues

Anytime a player needs assistance getting off the court, thoughts of the worst-case scenario tend to pop up in fans' heads. Fortunately, Murray's All-Star season doesn't seem to be trending towards ending prematurely.

After the early exit against New York, Murray wrapped up his 59th game of the year. This season, the star forward has averaged 34.9 minutes per game. He is shooting 48% from the field and knocking down 43% from beyond the arc to average 25.5 points per game.

Along with his scoring, Murray has dished out 7.2 assists per game, while coming down with 4.3 rebounds per outing. For the first time in his career, he earned All-Star honors.

The Nuggets have battled through tough injury scenarios throughout the year. Their star center Nikola Jokic missed a month of time after going down with a knee injury. Murray and the team stayed afloat throughout the stretch of absences from the former MVP.

Heading into Monday's game, the Thunder hold a 39-25 record. They've won five out of their last 10 games. With the Los Angeles Lakers getting a bump, the Nuggets sit sixth in the Western Conference. A win on Monday could help them secure the fifth seed once again.
