Liverpool will soon be faced with a difficult decision on some of their biggest names, who are entering the final year of their contract.
In the immediate future, the futures of Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate need to be addressed.
But FSG would be silly not to start thinking about the players who will be out of contract in 2027. Players like Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Alisson Becker are nearing the end of their deals, and this coming summer is the last chance Liverpool will have to cash in on their ageing talent.
If you could buy ANY Premier League player right now, who are you signing for Liverpool this summer?

So we’re going through all eight Reds in this predicament and advising the decision-makers at Anfield.
The verdict on every Liverpool star entering their final 12 months
Virgil van Dijk – keep
The captain remains the undisputed heartbeat of the defence and continues to age like a fine wine in the heart of the back four. Van Dijk’s peerless leadership and tactical intelligence are qualities you simply cannot buy on the market, making a contract extension a non-negotiable priority.
Alisson Becker – keep
While Giorgi Mamardashvili’s arrival looms large, Alisson remains the gold standard for goalkeepers and deserves at least one more year as the undisputed number one. The club should look to manage a gradual transition next season, ensuring the Georgian is ready to step into the massive shoes the Brazilian will eventually leave behind.
Mo Salah – sell
This summer represents the final opportunity to secure a significant transfer fee from Saudi Arabia for the Egyptian. Salah has been in talks with Al-Ittihad and likely more clubs, too. While his output is legendary, cashing in now allows Liverpool to reinvest that premium capital into the next era of their attacking frontline.

Curtis Jones – sell
Despite his technical ability and local ties, it may be time for Liverpool to move Jones on to make room for a more physically imposing presence in the engine room. Selling the midfielder now would provide the funds necessary to recruit a profile that offers the raw power and defensive “edge” the current midfield sometimes lacks.
Stefan Bajcetic – keep
While recurring injuries have hampered his rhythm, Bajčetić remains a generational talent who perfectly fits the profile of the physical and technical 6 Liverpool are crying out for. He deserves another full campaign to prove his fitness and reclaim his spot as the long-term successor in the defensive midfield role.
Wataru Endo – keep
The Japanese international has been a vital “stop-gap” hero, and since he would command a negligible fee on the open market, there is little sense in selling him now. Keeping him for one more season provides invaluable veteran cover and leadership for a relatively low cost before his contract naturally expires.

Joe Gomez
Liverpool’s defensive depth is already being tested, and losing a versatile asset like Gomez — who can cover multiple positions — would be a structural mistake. As long as the player is happy with his role, the club must prioritise keeping him at Anfield to avoid an expensive and unnecessary recruitment headache.
Kostas Tsimikas
Although squad depth is vital, the Greek international’s time at Liverpool feels like it is drawing to a natural close, especially with his recent loan spell at Roma suggesting his future lies elsewhere. Moving him on permanently this summer allows Liverpool to refresh the left-back position with a younger prospect who can challenge the current hierarchy.
