A suspect has been named after a man was found injured in the back of a taxi in Anfield. The ECHO previously reported Merseyside Police officers were called to Thirlmere Road in Anfield at around 8.55am on Sunday, March 8.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was found with head and facial injuries and taken to hospital for assessment. Officers arrested a 41-year-old man, from Anfield, nearby on suspicion of section 18 wounding. He was taken into custody for questioning.
A cordon was put in place on the road before being lifted around lunchtime on Sunday, with forensic officers at the scene and door-to-door enquiries taking place.
In an update this morning, Merseyside Police said Paul Derek Pollard, 41, of Morecambe Street in Anfield has been charged with Section 18 wounding.
He has been remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today (Monday, March 9.)
The victim is still receiving treatment in hospital.
