Liverpool squad confirmed to face Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Liverpool have been hit by a hammer blow for their Champions League last 16 first leg against Galatasaray.

The Reds have confirmed that No.1 goalkeeper Alisson Becker has not travelled with the team to Istanbul. Alisson suffered an issue in training on Monday and has not been risked.

It means that Giorgi Mamardshvili is set to deputise between the posts at Rams Park. Mamardshvili came off the bench in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray in the league phase last September when Alisson sustained a hamstring setback.

Freddie Woodman will serve as back-up to Mamaradashvili, while Kornel Miscuir is part of the 21-man squad in Turkey. The 18-year-old joined Liverpool from Hull City in the summer of 2023.

Miscuir has made 14 appearances at age-group level this season, including two outings for the under-19s in the UEFA Youth League. The Poland under-19s international was on the bench in Champions League games against Eintracht Frankfurt, Real Madrid and PSV Eindhoven while Alisson Becker was on the sidelines.

With Federico Chiesa omitted from Liverpool’s squad, having been absent from training, there is a chance for Kieran Morrison. The 19-year-old versatile forward has been prolific for the under-21s of late, scoring in a 5-0 win over Wolves on Sunday.

His effort came two days after coming off the bench in Arne Slot’s side’s 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round victory over Wolves at Molinuex.

Rio Ngumoha will be hoping to keep his starting spot after being awarded man of the match against Wolves. Trey Nyoini, the 18-year-old midfielder who caught the eye as a substitute, also travels to Turkey along with 19-year-old centre-back Amara Nallo.

Liverpool travelling squad: Gomez, Van Dijk, Konate, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Jones, Gakpo, Ekitike, Mamardashvili, Robertson, Woodman, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Nallo, Morrison, Ngumoha, Misciur.
