The New York Giants exhibited promise toward the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Losing high-upside rookie running back Cam Skattebo in late October due to three gruesome injuries (open tibia fracture, ruptured ligament, and dislocated right ankle) wasn’t ideal. Still, Skattebo’s encouraging productivity before his season-ending setbacks, combined with Jaxson Dart’s growth throughout the year, should give Giants fans hope for the future.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Giants could hit the tight end jackpot in free agency by signing a 36-year-old 11-time Pro Bowler who will reach the Hall of Fame when it’s all said and done.
“If the Chiefs don’t want to pay very much for another season and another team shows up with a significant offer, will that get Kelce’s attention,” Florio wrote Sunday.
“Matt Nagy, who has worked for the Chiefs throughout Kelce’s career, is now the offensive coordinator of the Giants. Although Kelce’s post-football career hardly needs a New York City bump, it couldn’t hurt to finish up in the nation’s top market with a team that is trying to build something positive.”
Florio said it perfectly in his carefully crafted article. The Giants want to take a positive step toward Super Bowl contention next season, and landing Kelce could easily help them achieve that goal.
While declining, the three-time Super Bowl champion is still a nightmare to match up against in short-yardage/red-zone situations thanks to his patience and high catch radius. A young, up-and-coming franchise quarterback like Dart could lean on Kelce early and often if he’s unable to find an open receiver during his initial progressions.
Kelce, who finished with 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns last year, should be on New York’s radar if he sticks around for another season.
