Vikings Agree to Terms on New Contract for Linebacker Eric Wilson

In December, Wilson told Vikings.com he feels like he's "playing some of my best ball" despite being later in his career.

"I think I'm maybe seeing football for what it is. It finally clicked in a certain way," he said. "Shout-out to my teammates; we play together pretty well, and coaches help me out a lot. I'm just glad it's coming together."

Wilson capitalized on the opportunity when re-joining the Vikings in 2024. After impressing during training camp, he was listed as a backup behind Cashman and Ivan Pace, Jr. But when Cashman suffered a hamstring injury during Minnesota's opener, it was next man up — and Wilson answered the bell. He retained a starting position, joining Cashman when he returned in Week 7.

Wilson thrived in the defensive system under Brian Flores, who is returning as the Vikings defensive coordinator this season. Now, the two of them will get to continue working together.

"I'm just super grateful, man. I've come a long way to get here," Wilson said last year. "You've gotta love the game, and I love the game. I'm happy to be out here each time.

"Not every place is like this," he added. "Not every place is as welcoming as here … and when you see things for what they are, it's a blessing."
