ESPN Analyst Alan Hahn Explains Why Celtics Are Team To Beat In East

After witnessing two games with Jayson Tatum back on the court, ESPN’s Alan Hahn believes the 2025-26 Eastern Conference runs through the Boston Celtics. Tatum has exceeded all expectations with the type of form he's displayed over his first two outings, and Boston’s ceiling has risen dramatically.

Hahn delivered his strong Celtics endorsement on Get Up on Monday. The Celtics have stayed competitive all year thanks in part to Jaylen Brown’s leadership and Derrick White’s all-around brilliance, but Tatum’s return—complete with efficient scoring and playmaking in his first games back—gives the group its full firepower.

As Hahn noted, Joe Mazzulla’s squad boasts elite defense, depth and championship experience from 2024. As the regular season winds down and the playoffs loom, Hahn’s take positions Boston as the clear favorite to represent the East once again.

New England fans have every reason to buy in. A healthy Tatum alongside Brown creates a duo few teams can match, and Boston's role players have only gotten stronger this season.
