This week, the reacts question was to grade the T’Vondre Sweat trade. In case you have forgotten, the Tennessee Titans have agreed to send defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets for EDGE Jermaine Johnson. There aren’t that many player-for-player trades these days, but Mike Borgonzi was able to work one out here.
Fans gave that trade a solid “B:”
There are a couple of things to remember here:
* Sweat was drafted by Ran Carthon, not Borgonzi. It has been rumored since the NFL trade deadline last year that Borgonzi was trying to trade Sweat. He was a disappointment here. His conditioning has been an issue, and he had some unfortunate injuries/health situations here.
* There is a chance that the trade gives Sweat the motivation to figure out the conditioning stuff and turns into a really good player.
* There is a chance that Johnson doesn’t fully recover from the Achilles injury and doesn’t play well here.
Those things may make this trade look bad in hindsight, but there is no guarantee that Sweat would have ever figured it out here.
