Report: Patriots To Hire Former Browns Assistant Coach

The New England Patriots lost assistant offensive line coach Robert Kugler to the Pittsburgh Steelers in February.

Now, according to a report by MassLive Patriots beat reporter Mark Daniels, New England has found a replacement.

"The Patriots are working to hire a new assistant coach, Jonathan Decoster," Daniels posted on Bluesky. "He was Florida's assistant o-line coach the last two seasons. He was with the Browns before that. Looks like a replacement for Robert Kugler."

Jonathan Decoster will join returning offensive line coach Doug Marrone and returning assistant offensive line coach Jason Houghtaling on head coach Mike Vrabel's staff, per Daniels.

Decoster has college coaching experience at the University of Nevada (2013-14), West Virginia State (2015-16), LSU (2017-19), Old Dominion (2020) and the University of Florida (2024-25).

He also served as the Cleveland Browns' offensive quality control coach in 2021 and offensive assistant in 2022 and 2023.
