Liverpool officially confirm 21-man travelling squad for Galatasaray clash

Liverpool have officially confirmed the travelling squad for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash vs Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

Liverpool’s Champions League trip to Istanbul already feels like one of those nights that can shape a season.

The first leg of with Galatasaray takes place at RAMS Park on Tuesday 10 March, with kick‑off at 17:45 GMT. With the return at Anfield scheduled for March 18, the onus is on the Turkish champions to make home advantage count before heading to Merseyside a week later.

That second leg at Anfield already has a unique twist, with Galatasaray fans banned from attending due to a UEFA sanction. Without their travelling support, the Turkish side will be walking into a very different environment on Merseyside compared to the cauldron that awaits Liverpool in Istanbul.

That dynamic may influence how both managers approach the first leg: Galatasaray know they must make home advantage count now, while Liverpool will be mindful that a strong result in Istanbul could set up a potentially one‑sided atmosphere in their favour back home.

The winner over two legs will advance to a glamour quarter‑final against either Paris Saint‑Germain or Chelsea.

Injuries remain a subplot for Liverpool, with long‑term absentees such as Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni ruled out for the season and record signing Alexander Isak still working his way back from a fractured fibula and ankle surgery, with a return expected around early April.

With that in mind, Arne Slot has not taken any risks with the travelling party he has named for the first-leg clash:

Gomez, Van Dijk, Konate, Kerkez, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Jones, Gakpo, Ekitike, Mamardashvili, Robertson, Woodman, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Nallo, Morrison, Ngumoha, Misciur.

Mac Allister has thankfully emerged unscathed from the clash against Wolves on Friday night after being withdrawn with a knock.
