Brentford owner Matthew Benham has claimed that Everton striker Beto’s price tag should be more than some may expect.

Beto has endured his struggles since moving tor Merseyside from Udinese in the summer of 2023. In total, Beto has scored 20 goals in 103 appearances for the Toffees.

The Guinea-Bissau international has been guilty of missing several gilt-edged chances this season, although he recently netted in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

Beto spurned three good opportunities in a 1-1 draw at Brentford last season and with little more than a year remaining on his Hill Dickinson Stadium contract, he faces an uncertain future come the summer transfer window.

Everton could look to cash in on Beto. And Benham believes that David Moyes’ side could demand an increased price tag because of the goalscoring scenarios Beto gets himself in.

Speaking to Training Ground Guru, Benham said: "For a striker, getting in position is way more informative than finishing. When we played Everton at our place late last year, Beto missed three one-on-ones.

"Any model worth its salt would give Beto an upgrade. Any player who manages to to make three one-on-ones in a single game, even if he happens to miss them, he’s got to get an upgrade. Obviously your man in the street would slate him.”
