John Schneider could stick it to John Lynch with sneaky Jauan Jennings addition

The Seattle Seahawks don't have many areas of improvement right now. That said, even the best things can be improved, and this team isn't the exception to that rule. Also, with everybody aiming for the crown, they can't afford to rest on their laurels.

That's why the defending Super Bowl champions could go two for one in free agency. GM John Schneider can do much more than just add firepower to their offense; he can also actively hurt a divisional rival by stealing one of their best players.

Niners star wide receiver Jauan Jennings will be an unrestricted free agent. And, after failing to secure a long-term deal with the Niners, he might be tempted to stick it to the team that drafted him by joining the Seahawks instead.

Jauan Jennings makes too much sense for the Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are more than familiar with Jennings' talents, and not just because he's a divisional rival. New offensive coordinator Brian Fleury spent time with the Niners, so he should know how to use him to the best of his abilities, as well as his demeanor and how he carries himself in the building.

Granted, Jennings made his fair share of enemies on the field last season, and the Seahawks usually move away from big-character guys in free agency. That said, adding him to their already explosive offense would be the ultimate victory cigar in the division.

While he wasn't much of a factor earlier in his career, the former seventh-round pick blossomed out of need amid the Niners' myriad of injuries. He broke out with 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns last season and took things even further with 643 receiving yards and a career-high nine touchdown receptions in 2025.

Spotrac projects his next contract to be three years and $67.8 million, with an average annual value of $22.6 million. That's the highest projection in this year's free-agency class, even ahead of the likes of Alec Pierce or riskier options like Mike Evans.

While that might look like much for a player who wasn't on the radar until the past couple of years, the Seahawks have more than enough cash to spend. According to Over The Cap, they have $58 milion in available cap space, so they can essentially outbid anybody.

The Seahawks might lose Rashid Shaheed to the Las Vegas Raiders or any of his other suitors, and Jennings would certainly be a significant upgrade. Having him as the Robin to Jaxon Smith-Njigba's Batman should be a scary thought for the rest of the league, and especially for the Niners, who'll have to meet Mike Macdonald's team twice a year.
