Powerful Chelsea signing opens up and reveals why he’s happy at Stamford Bridge

Dario Essugo has been very honest following his first appearance of the season for CHELSEA on Saturday and has revealed why he is now happy at the club after struggling with injuries during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese youngster finally made his first appearance of the season on Saturday, marking an important personal milestone after a frustrating spell on the sidelines. Essugo acknowledged that the physical setbacks had tested both his patience and confidence during his first year in west London.

Speaking after the match, the powerhouse said the injuries had been one of the most challenging periods of his young career. After arriving with high expectations following his development at Sporting CP, Essugo struggled to build momentum as recurring fitness issues interrupted his progress.

Despite the setbacks, Essugo said he now feels settled at the club and is enjoying football again. His appearance at the weekend represented more than just a return to the pitch—it signaled the beginning of what he hopes will be a consistent run of opportunities in the squad.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website after the FA Cup game, Essugo said: “Of course, it is a very good feeling because it was a very tough moment. At a new club, a new experience, but for me, it’s very good to be back.

“Since the first day I got the injuries I had, I’ve had to wait but now I’m back and I feel very good.”

CHELSEA’s coaching staff are believed to be pleased with Essugo’s progress during training in recent weeks, particularly with his physical conditioning and defensive discipline in midfield. The club views the Portuguese international youth product as a long-term project, capable of developing into a key presence in the centre of the pitch.

Essugo first gained attention in Portugal for becoming one of the youngest players ever to feature for Sporting’s senior team. His move to Chelsea was seen as a major step in his development, though the early injury setbacks slowed his adaptation to English football.

With his first appearance of the campaign now behind him, Essugo hopes the remainder of the season will allow him to show why the club invested in his potential. For the midfielder, simply being back on the pitch already feels like a victory.
