Chiefs' Travis Kelce $15 million contract update has 'a few select teams' as a twist

We've reached that point of the NFL offseason where insiders start to tell different stories.

There's no way to tell exactly what's true until the final outcome, but in the case of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, it's all quite intriguing.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini is sticking by her reporting with a new post on Monday that says Kelce's return to the Chiefs isn't "finalized" yet.

According to Russini, Kelce is still considering "a few select teams." She writes that if he comes back to the Chiefs, it will be on a contract worth up to $15 million.

All these reports have had one thing in common at least: Kelce will be playing his 14th season in the NFL.

Beyond that? It's a bit conflicting.

It makes sense that Kelce would want to return to the Chiefs. He's only known that team. He's still got Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, and they brought back offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

But this would be the only chance Kelce gets in his whole career to go somewhere else. Now would be the time to at least consider it.

Will Kelce leave? We'll only know when he signs a contract for sure.

But the idea of him leaving is apparently still lingering out there, at least a little bit.

Chiefs fans, and the rest of the NFL, are waiting.
