49ers trade rumor could lead to blockbuster deal with Cowboys, Chiefs or Packers

The San Francisco 49ers could be willing to trade one of their franchise cornerstones this offseason.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are open to trading left tackle Trent Williams if the two sides can't come to terms on a revised deal.

"The #49ers are now said to be open to trading Pro Bowl LT Trent Williams, sources say, if the situation doesn’t get resolved. A resolution has not been easy and Williams is frustrated with the process. He’s due $32M in salary with a $38M+ cap number," Rapoport said.

Williams is still one of the best tackles in football and will have plenty of trade suitors, with the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Green Bay Packers being among potentially interested teams.

Dallas is currently slated to have Tyler Smith start at left tackle, but that isn't his natural position. Acquiring Williams to protect quarterback Dak Prescott's blindside would be a fantastic move from Jerry Jones and Co.

Kansas City could also use an upgrade at left tackle over Josh Simmons, and Williams would fit that mold.

Green Bay will likely lose Rasheed Walker in free agency, so trading for Williams to replace Walker would be an incredibly savvy move from general manager Brian Gutekunst.

We'll see if Williams actually gets traded, but if he does get dealt, expect the Chiefs, Cowboys, and Packers to be interested.
