The Indianapolis Colts wasted no time making their first move in NFL free agency.

Just a few minutes after the window opened, the Colts have reportedly agreed to terms on a new four-year deal worth $116 million with wide receiver Alec Pierce. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report the news.

“BREAKING: The Colts and standout WR Alec Pierce have agreed to a deal, per multiple sources,” Schultz wrote on X. “Pierce had an excellent season with 47 catches (career high), 1,003 yards (career high) and 6 TDs. Indy secures a key weapon long-term.”

He quickly followed up his original report on the deal getting done with the financial specifics.

Pierce was the top priority for Indianapolis entering free agency. After a breakout season in 2025, the Colts wanted to take no risk in losing him to another team.

Alec Pierce Put Together an Impressive 2025 Season for the Colts

Throughout the course of last season, the development of Pierce was clear. He went from being exclusively a deep threat wide receiver to showing improvement as a possession wideout.

When all was said and done, he caught 47 passes for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games. He led the league in yards per reception at 21.3.

Pierce was a big part of the offensive success that Indianapolis had early in the year. He is just 25 years old with plenty of room to continue growing his game.

Now Indianapolis Must Figure Out the Daniel Jones Situation

Getting Pierce locked up was a must for the Colts. However, they are still dealing with the potential of losing quarterback Daniel Jones.

Indianapolis decided to place the transition tag on Jones. Another team could swoop in and try to sign him away from the Colts. Even though that is a possibility, the expectation is that the two sides will work something out.

Jones is coming off of a 2025 season that saw him play in 13 games before going down with a torn Achilles. He completed 68 percent of his pass attempts for 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, while also running for 164 yards and five scores.

More than likely, Indianapolis will be able to work out a new deal with Jones. He came into negotiations wanting around $50 million per season, which could cause some issues in negotiations. That being said, the Colts can’t afford to go back into quarterback controversy.

Expect to hear more about Jones in the near future. One of his favorite targets is now back long-term in Indianapolis. It will be interesting to see what the rest of free agency has in store for the Colts.
